2017 SOUTH AFRICAN TOURISM INDABA TO FOCUS ON COUNTRY’S TOURISM PRODUCTS

CAPE TOWN, South Africa’s 2017 Tourism Indaba, which will be held next week, is expected to showcase South Africa’s products and services in the tourism and hospitality sector, says Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo.

President Jacob Zuma will open the 2017 Tourism Indaba at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, she told journalists here Thursday when briefing them on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

Tourism Indaba 2017, which will be be held from Tuesday to Thursday, will also promote and support the ongoing transformation and development of the South African tourism industry, notably the role which entrepreneurs and small business owners play, Dlodlo said.

More than 10 million international tourists visited South Africa in 2016, an increase of 13 per cent from 2015. The Minister said this rate of growth was well over the global average rate of three per cent for the period.
