Accused guilty of attempted murder, sentenced to 20 years behind bars

KIMBERLEY: The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, welcomed the twenty year jail term handed down to 34-year-old Dawid Jacobus Dallar by the Carnarvon Regional Court.

Dallar was found guilty on Friday, 02 September 2022 on a charge of attempted murder, subsequent to stabbing his 26-year-old life partner multiple times on the upper body.

The evidence brought before court, revealed that the accused stabbed his partner 14 times on the upper body including in the back, chest and in the stomach. Both the accused and the victim, were living together as life partners.

On 07 May 2022 the two argued over a R50.00. Dallas was under the influence of alcohol during the commission of crime. The incident was reported to the Carnarvon police and Sergeant Marlon Eksteen was assigned to investigate the case.

He effected the arrest on the same day of the crime and on Friday, 02 September 2022 the accused pleaded guilty on the charge of attempted murder and was sentenced to an effective 20 years imprisonment.

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Kolisa Otola praised the investigating officer, Sergeant Marlon Eksteen for the meticulous investigation and for the collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority and Department of Justice to ensure that the accused was removed from the society and incarcerated.
