Alleged drug peddler apprehended following car chase and shootout with police

The police in Seshego have arrested a 23-year-old suspect for alleged possession of and dealing in illicit drugs at Seshego Zone 4 Extension in the early hours of Sunday, 25 December 2022.
The local members of crime prevention were on patrol duties at about 02:30 when they received information about three suspects who were sitting in a motor vehicle and selling drugs. They cautiously approached it and suddenly, the suspects allegedly started firing at the police and immediately pulled off.
The police returned fire and apparently punctured one of the rear wheels. The suspects proceeded driving towards Extension 76 on the outskirts of Polokwane where two of them jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the darkness. The third suspect who was the passenger was arrested.
During the process of arrest, the police confiscated crystal meth and cat drugs. The suspects will appear before the Seshego Magistrates’ Court soon.
Police investigations are continuing.
