Cash-In-Transit robber sentenced in Cape Town

WESTERN CAPE- 0nke Jilingisi (30), a cash-in-transit robber have been sentenced in the Parow Regional Court yesterday,19 November 2021 to a lengthy prison terms for a 2020 robbery at Pioneer foods,Epping in Cape Town. Jilingisi was sentenced yesterday.

It is reported that on August 28, 2020 at about 14:30 in the afternoon, security guards from G4S securitycompany were collecting cash from Pioneer foods into their vehicle when two armed men confronted them with firearms and disarmed them.

The men then robbed the guards of a firearm and two (2) boxes and three (3) bags containing cash and fled with about R288 362-00.

The Hawks serious organised crime investigation unit immediately started its investigation and managed to track down the bronze Isuzu bakkie used by the robbers as a getaway vehicle.

Members of the unit traced it same day after the robbery and found the vehicle abandoned on an open field at Langa railway lines.

The Hawks positively linked Jingilisi to the robbery and arrested him on the same day at the same place where the robbery took place at about 17:00.

The Parow Regional court sentenced Jilingisi to 10 years direct imprisonment for robbery with aggravated circumstances. Additionally he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.
