Collaborative efforts lead to recovery of 29 previously stolen cattle

NELSPRUIT – The collaboration between members of the SAPS Stock theft Unit, Rural Safety and Bethal Farmers Forum has led to a recovery of 29 cattle which was reported stolen in the beginning of August 2022. The recovery was made yesterday, Wednesday 10 August 2022 at Bethal.

According to the information, on 01 August 2022 the 29 cattle were reportedly stolen at a certain farm called Vlakkuilen. The police were notified about the incident and after the case of stock theft was opened an investigation was conducted in order to recover the livestock and possibly arrest the suspects. Police worked tirelessly in partnership with the said role-players where a breakthrough was made in the early hours of today. The livestock was recovered in a quarry. Though there was no one arrested but the lawful owner of the livestock was glad with the achievement made thus far.

The investigation is still ongoing and police urge anyone with information that may assist in arresting the perpetrators to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the recovery made and appreciated the partnership that has been displayed which resulted in the success that was made. “We always encourage communities to work together with police because we know that more can be achieved” commented the General.
