D’Tigers Win Invitational Tournament in South Africa

The Nigerian national basketball team, D’Tigers are the champions of four-nation invitational challenge tournament in South Africa. The Victorious Nigerian side defeated all three other participants Kenya, South Africa and Mozambique to take home the prized trophy.

The four nation tournament climaxed when Nigeria defeated Mozambique 72-59 in a reversed fixture that pitched the two top teams together in the final game.

Mark mentors and D’Tigers player, Stanley Gumut was voted the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament after a scintillating display that got the fans captivated all through the tournament.

President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Tijani Umar who congratulated the players and coaching crew for a job well done, emphasized that the second hurdle is to see Nigeria through qualifying for the 2015 nations cup in Tunisia.

The team is expected to return to the country this Tuesday.

The D’Tigers will now continue preparation for the second leg qualifier for the 2015 Nations Cup in Tunisia against Burkina Faso having won the first leg away last week Monday.
