Ladybrand — A violent confrontation at a local tavern in Manyatseng, Ladybrand, resulted in eight people being injured on Friday, 29 March 2024, at approximately 19:45. Following an altercation inside the tavern, a 36-year-old man retrieved a pistol from his home and opened fire upon his return, seriously injuring the patrons, two of whom are in critical condition.
According to South African Police Service, The Ladybrand police swiftly traced and arrested the suspect at his parent’s house, charging him with eight counts of attempted murder. The firearm used in the shooting has been confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation to ascertain the victims’ identities and the sequence of events leading to this tragic incident. The suspect is scheduled for a court appearance in the coming days.
