Eight robbers caught in the act

DURBAN: The Durban Central Crime Prevention Unit arrested eight suspects between the ages of 24 and 39 at two different crime scenes for burglary, theft and robbery aggravated. All eight suspects will appear in Durban Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 21 January 2022.

In the early hours of the morning at 04:25, police responded to a report of burglary at a business premises in Lancers Road and proceeded to the scene where they caught four suspects in the act. The suspects aged between 31 and 39 were arrested and charged for burglary and theft. They were also found with various other items in their possession.

In another incident on Wednesday 19 January 2022 at 19:20, police were patrolling on foot in the Syringa and Berea Avenue area when they observed four men grabbing a 38-year-old man against the wall and removing his property. The suspects spotted the police and ran towards the direction of Syringa Road.

Police gave chase and arrested all four suspects between the ages of 24 and 33 for robbery. Upon searching the suspects, police found okapi knifes, a wallet and a black bag in their possession which were all positively identified by the complainant as his belongings. All four suspects were charged for robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.
