Elsies River police members stop drug dealers in their tracks and confiscate two firearms

WESTERN CAPE – Committed police members arrested three suspects in two isolated incidents in possession of cash, prohibited firearms and ammunition and drugs with an estimated street value of R1, 1 million on Thursday 22 September 2022.
Elsies River Crime Prevention Unit members were busy with foot patrols in Leonsdale. As they entered 9th Avenue, they received information and proceeded to the address. Upon arrival at the address they searched the entire area, and confiscated 114 parcels of dagga found hidden in a washing machine and in the bedroom. A 56-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs.
The police members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit followed up on information indicating that a suspect using a light delivery vehicle is selling drugs in Elsiesriver. The members operationalised the information and conducted a focussed patrol. When they entered Chelsea Street in Riverton, they approached the truck and searched the luggage compartment and the occupants. The police members confiscated two 9mm pistols with ammunition, a consignment of drugs with an estimated street value of R700 000-00 and cash. Two males aged 23 and 24 were arrested and detained on charges of dealing drugs, possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Goodwood Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
