Estranged son-in-law and hitman in custody for murder

PRETORIA – An estranged son-in-law, Frans Letshoalo (51) who is a taxi boss and the alleged hitman, Sizwe Nhlapho (28), who were charged with murder have been remanded in custody by the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates’ Court today, 23 May 2022.

It is alleged that on 16 February 2022, a fire fighter, Annah Mnguni (59) was at her workplace at the Tshwane Fire Department in Bronkhorstspruit when she was fatally shot by unknown gunmen. The incident prompted the investigation by the Pretoria based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

On 20 May 2022, the Hawks’ teams; Crime Against the State (CATS) and Tactical Operational Management Section (TOMS) as well as Head Office Crime Intelligence arrested the accused at their places of residence in Krugersdorp and Soweto respectively. They were charged and taken to court. Motive for the killing is under investigation.

The matter was remanded to 27 May 2022 for a formal bail application.
