Ethiopia Committed to Strengthening Strategic Partnership with China, Says Demeke

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia is firmly committed to fostering its all-weather strategic partnership with China, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen. This commitment was reiterated during a discussion with China's Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Xue Bing, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), In the meeting, Demeke expressed appreciation for China's ongoing development assistance in various fields and its constructive role in addressing security, development, and governance challenges in Africa. He also commended China for its principled support in multilateral forums, including backing Ethiopia's bid to join BRICS. Furthermore, Demeke reaffirmed the Ethiopian government's dedication to the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Xue Bing, China's Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, lauded Ethiopia's efforts in enhancing bilateral relations and elevating them to an all-weather strategic partnership level. He acknowledged Ethiopia's role in promoting peace and development in the Horn of Africa and expressed encouragement about the progress of the peace process in the country. Additionally, the Special Envoy stressed the importance of convening the second China-Horn of Africa Peace, Good Governance, and Development Conference.
