Food For Assets in Zimbabwe

In Zimbabwe’s dry-lands, farming is risky business. Year after year inadequate rains mean farmers cannot harvest enough, leaving many families without the necessary resources to sustain themselves. That is why WFP, in partnership with USAID and other technical organisations, has embarked on more targeted to tackle food and nutrition insecurity – for example, helping communities to build assets such as small irrigation schemes and fish ponds. This is the story of one such community, in Mwenezi 450 km south of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare.
