Four Suspects Apprehended Following Robbery of Courier Vehicle in OR Tambo District

MTHATHA – The OR Tambo District Task Team (DTT) successfully arrested four individuals linked to the robbery of a courier bakkie on the R61 route between Mthatha and Baziya A/A. The operation took place over the weekend, resulting in the recovery of stolen goods valued at approximately R100,000.

According to South African Police Service, Acting OR TAMBO District Commissioner, the DTT, with assistance from a tracking company, located the suspects, aged between 28 and 30, in the Gotyubeni locality. During the arrests, a firearm (PX4 pistol) and live rounds were recovered from one of the suspects. Additionally, two vehicles used in the robbery were found and confiscated at the scene. All recovered items are currently being positively identified by the police. The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Mthatha Magistrate Court tomorrow, July 8, 2024. Brigadier Ntandane emphasized the commitment of the police to protecting citizens and their property, asserting that the force will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the constitutional rights of the public.
