Gang member slammed with 6 years imprisonment for possession of firearm

WESTERN CAPE – Cape alleged gang member Chesler William Hendricks (30), was convicted on Wednesday by the Somerset West Regional Court for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
Hendricks was arrested by the Hawks’ National Priority Violent Crimes (NPVC) team together with Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) on the 05 April 2019.
The team swiftly acted on information about a firearm illegally kept in the premises in Macassar.
A search and seizure operation was conducted at the same premises.
This resulted in the recovery of a 9mm pistol with ammunition concealed in a wendy house.
A further investigation by the Hawks (NPVC) directly linked Hendricks to the firearm and he was found guilty and sentenced to ten (10) years imprisonment, of which four years were suspended for five (5) years.
