Main topics and media events 9 – 22 March 2015

9 March – Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council
Ahead of the European Council on 19-20 March, the Council will hold a policy debate on the 2015 European Semester exercise.
10 March – Economic and Financial Affairs Council
The Council will be called on to agree on a proposal for a European fund for strategic investments, as part of the Commission’s action plan on investment.
12 – 13 March – Justice and Home Affairs Council
Home affairs ministers will have an exchange of views on the trends and further actions concerning the migratory flows in Europe. Justice  ministers will try to reach a partial general approach on the general data protection regulation. 
13 March – Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council
The Council will discuss proposals to liberalise rail services and strengthen governance. 
16 March – Foreign Affairs Council
The Council will hold a strategic discussion on EU-Africa relations. 
16 March – Agriculture and Fisheries Council
The Council will discuss a proposal on organic production and labelling of organic products.
17 March – General Affairs Council
The Council will prepare the European Council on 19/20 March examining the European Council conclusions.Regarding the European Semester 2015, the Council will take note of a synthesis report on Council contributions, and of an updated roadmap.
19-20 March – European Council
The European Council will discuss the energy union,  will have an exchange of views on the economic situation and conclude the first phase of the European Semester for 2015 and is also expected to revert to relations with Russia and the situation in Ukraine.
