PRETORIA – The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale, the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General KJ Sitole will together with senior management of the service, as well as the management of the Police’s Medical Scheme (Polmed) open its first quarantine/isolation sites for members of the SAPS.
As part of the organizations response to address the COVID-19 pandemic that has already claimed the lives of 193 SAPS members, two facilities will officially open its doors to the organizations 195 000 workforce.
The facilities which are situated in Gauteng and Western Cape have 144 beds.
The identified facilities currently serve as basic police training institutions and they are, SAPS Tshwane Academy in Pretoria and the SAPS Bishop Lavis Academy in Cape Town.
