MILNERTON — A man was arrested by the Milnerton South African Police Service (SAPS) in the early hours of Sunday, August 4, 2024, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The arrest occurred during a routine patrol in the Rugby area of Milnerton.
According to South African Police Service, officers were patrolling Koeberg Road when they noticed a vehicle running a red traffic light. After pulling the vehicle over, police conducted a search of both the driver and the vehicle, discovering a 9mm pistol with ammunition hidden under the front seat. The driver was unable to provide a valid firearm license.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court following his charges. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to curb illegal weapon possession in the region.
