Moussawi: Presidency of the Republic a right for the FPM

NNA – Member of Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, Nawaf Moussawi, said on Sunday that the Presidency of the Republic is a “right” for Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), the latter being the “representative of the majority of Christians.”

At a ceremony held in south Lebanon by friends of Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital, in honour of the representative of the Association of Iranian Red Crescent, and the hospital director, Dr. Jawad Falah, on the occasion of the end of his mission in Lebanon, the MP announced that he stood firm alongside those who criticize corruption, noting that reform should start from the den of corruption. Moussawi singled out Solidere as the source of corruption, and dubbed it a “murderer” of the Lebanese state.

Solidere, the Lebanese Company for the Development and Reconstruction of Beirut Central District s.a.l., was incorporated as a Lebanese joint-stock company on May 5, 1994 for the reconstruction and development of Beirut city center. The company’s official webpage states that it provides a broad range of quality land and real estate development activities and services. Solidere combines the business independence and acumen of a private company with global vision and a sense of public service.

Touching on the political initiative of Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, Moussawi said it was a necessity in a country like Lebanon, based on diversity and differences, a country which according to him should be built on partnership and balance.

Also attending the event was MP Hani Kobeissi who stressed the importance of dialogue, despite the “chaos that some were trying to spread throughout the country.”
