NELSPRUIT – A 49-year-old woman is expected to make a formal bail application at the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Monday 07 June 2021, on murder allegations.
Nathi Veronica Ngomane was fingered in a case in which Sipho Nkosi, 34-years-old was murdered in October 2018. According to the report, on the said day, Nkosi was at home when a group of about 10 suspects stormed into his house at Pienaar near Nelspruit. Without uttering a word, they kidnapped him in front of his family, robbed some items, including cellphones before they forced Nkosi into their vehicle, a white Nissan NP 200 and fled the scene with him.
The incident was then reported to police however Nkosi’s whereabouts or what might have happened to him remained unknown until his mutilated and partially decomposed body was discovered a week later in the bushes at Spelanyane near Pienaar. His body was positively identified through by his family where a murder charge was opened.
Police then launched a manhunt for suspects and concerned members of the public came on board where they provided details which led to a breakthrough at which Ngomane was sniffed out from her hiding place at Kanyamazane on Friday, 28 May 2021. Police also charged her for house robbery and she has already made her first court appearance on the same day where she was remanded in custody hence the bail application. The other suspects are still at large and are being sought by police.
Meanwhile police on the other hand, are looking for suspects on two cases of murder which occurred at Pienaar in the early hours of today, Sunday 06 June 2021. In the first murder incident, it is said that police were notified by the paramedics about a man who was stabbed. Upon their arrival at a local clinic, they were shown a body of a male person with stab wounds. A case was opened accordingly and they began with their investigation.
In the second murder incident, reports indicate that a group of motorists were engaged in spinning of vehicles when one of the vehicles reportedly bumped into another which was not part of the event which led to a squabble and the fatal shooting.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Thulani Phahla has urged members of the public to refrain from using violence as an easy route to resolve disputes. “Violence can never bring a solution but misery, “said General Phahla.
