Operation “Vala Konke” yields positive results

JOE GQABI DISTRICT – SAPS members in the Joe Gqabi District continued with operation “Vala Konke” during the long weekend that yield the following positive successes.
The operations focus on high visibility patrols, stop and search for illegal firearms, drugs, dangerous weapons, prevention of stock theft, closing of illegal shebeens and the compliance of liquor outlets.
Two liquor outlets were closed down and fined for trading without a license and liquor were confiscated the Liquor were confiscated.
Five suspects were also arrested for being under the influence of liquor, assault GBH and the contravening of a protection order, possession of drugs (mandrax tablets in different sizes)
At Maletswai, a suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
121 Persons were searched:
35 Vehicles were searched;
Several dangerous weapons were confiscated:
traffic fines were issued to the value of R 18 600-00.
The Joe Gqabi District Commissioner, Maj Genl Lindelwa Vellem commended the members on the successes and for keeping our communities safe and secure during the Festive period.
