Operational successes in the Joe Gqabi District

JOE GQABI DISTRICT – At the start of the weekend all the stations in the District embarked on crime prevention operations and also monitoring compliance to regulations of the Disaster Management Act.
The following stations and units had successes:
STEYNSBURG: The members managed to arrest a 29-year-old suspect after a burglary business at ‘Zoy Shop’ and all the property were recovered.
UGIE: As the operation continued to enforce the COVID-19 regulations, two (2) suspects were arrested for selling tobacco. All the tobacco was confiscated.
BARKLY EAST MOUNTED UNIT: The mounted unit were working in Maclear and followed up positive information at Maclear Old Location township.
An 18-year-old suspect was arrested and 42 boss mandrax tablets in different sizes as well as 10 straws tik to the value of R3220-00 was confiscated.
KATKOP: At KATKOP positive information was followed up and a suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
K9 -ALIWAL NORTH: Members of the Aliwal North K9 managed to follow up positive information at Hilton and arrested an 18-year-old suspect after he tried to flush the exhibits in the toilet. Five (5) Sachets of tik to the value of R600-00 were confiscated.
All the stations will continue with operations including high visibility patrols, monitoring of taverns and also funerals to ensure the regulations of the Disaster Management Act is adhered to.
The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudulph Adolph commended the members for their continued commitment and dedication in the fight against crime. He said, “Thank you for your hard work so that our communities can always feel safe and secure.”
