WINDHOEK - In Otjiwarongo, a 79-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, as reported by Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, Spokesperson for the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).
According to The Namibia Press Agency, the victim, identified as Petrus Shanyenge, was allegedly shot by the elderly man after approaching him with a knife. The incident escalated from a neighborhood dispute, during which the suspect's wife called him for assistance. Despite firing a warning shot, the suspect shot Shanyenge as he continued to approach in an aggressive manner. Shanyenge was rushed to Otjiwarongo State Hospital but was declared dead while receiving medical treatment. A murder investigation is underway, and the suspect is currently in custody.
