Police arrest four suspects linked to business robbery, recover firearm and stolen items

The SAPS Waterval Detectives have arrested four suspects aged between 17 and 24 in connection with a business robbery that occurred on Friday, 27 September 2024 at a spaza shop at Shivambu Village in Bungeni.

The suspects were apprehended on Sunday, 30 September, at Shivambu village in Bungeni while driving a Toyota Yaris, which is believed to have been used during the robbery. The Police recovered an unlicensed firearm, laptops, and cellphones that are thought to be among the stolen items.

During the robbery, the suspects entered the spaza shop, armed with a firearm, and stole cash, airtime vouchers, and various electronics.

Investigations are ongoing, and suspects might be linked to similar cases in the policing precinct and surrounding areas.

The suspects are set to appear before Hlanganani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 01 October 2024 facing charges of business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen properties.
