This morning, at 10:30, police were conducting their crime prevention duties at Verulam to curb crime in the area. An intelligence driven operation was conducted about dealing in drugs at the taxi rank on Wick Street, Verulam. The suspect who looked suspicious, was searched. He was found in possession of 140 heroin capsules, 23 pieces of rock and R1 100 cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug dealing. He was immediately arrested and taken to custody. The drugs recovered is estimated at R6 500. A 24-year-old suspect will appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 June 2018 facing charges of possession of drugs. Our police officers will continue to get rid of drugs and arrest those involved in any drug related activities in the province.
