MPUMALANGA – A 29-year-old police constable, stationed at Mbalenhle Detective is expected to appear before the Evander Magistrates Court today, 23 December 2021, facing the charge of corruption.

His arrest followed after an information was received about a police officer who demanded a R2000 gratification from the suspect who was facing charge of assaulting his wife.

An intelligence driven undercover operation was conducted by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Serious Commercial Crime Investigation based in Secunda.

The suspect was arrested immediately after receiving the money from the undercover agent. He was charged and detained pending his court appearance.
