Police in Tshwane recover two hijacked vehicles, two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and a jamming device during an intelligence-driven operation in Mabopane

PARKTOWN – On Thursday, 12 May 2022, police in Tshwane arrested three suspects in Mabopane and recovered two hijacked vehicles, two unlicensed firearms and ammunition following an intelligence-driven operation.

The SAPS members reportedly obtained information about the location of suspects linked to a carjacking case and proceeded to the identified address in Mabopane. Upon arrival the members found two suspects in the process of tampering with the hijacked vehicle. The suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot, but were shortly apprehended. A search led to the recovered of two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and a jamming device.

On the same day the team recovered another hijacked vehicle and arrested another suspect a street away from the other incident. The recovered vehicles were impounded for further investigations.

All three suspects are expected to appear before court soon.
