POTCHEFSTROOM – A 41-year-old Sergeant Frederick Wilhelem Barnard is expected to make a second appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29 November 2021, for damaging essential infrastructure.
The Sergeant was remanded in custody for a formal bail application upon first court appearance last Monday following his arrest in Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp on Saturday, 20 November 2021. Investigation into the matter continues.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded the police for their prompt response to the tip-off and subsequent arrest of the member. He pointed out that the arrest will definitely serve as a warning to all SAPS employees that those who commit crime and tarnish the image of the Service, will be shown no mercy.
