Police seek assistance in solving murder of the chairman of Mqanduli Taxi Association

The acting Oliver Reginald Tambo District Commissioner, Brigadier Vukile Ntandane has condemned the shooting incident, and is appealing to the public for assistance with information that can help in solving a murder case after the body of a 65-year-old chairman of Mqanduli Taxi Association was found with gunshot wounds in Thwalikhulu A/A on the night of 30 July 2021.

On Friday, 30 July 2021 at about 19:10, police were summoned to a complaint of a shooting at Ndungunyeni locality Thwalikhulu A/A. At the scene, police found the lifeless body of the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in his body. The deceased was identified as a chairman of Mqanduli Taxi Association. Police opened a case of murder and are following all leads.

According to information, when he arrived at his homestead he was shot several times at the upper end lower body by two unknown male suspects who happened to be seen through the window by the son of the deceased.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage but conflict among the taxi associations can’t be ruled out.
