Police seek assistance in tracing victim/ alleged suspect

GQEBERHA – SAPS Humewood detectives are urgently trying to trace a person who was allegedly involved in an incident on Wednesday, 2 February 2022 in Havelock Street in central.

According to a preliminary report, at about 20:55 on the mentioned date, a 32-year-old male was found near Happy Valley with a stab wound to his neck. While receiving medical attention, he attempted to run away and ran towards the water but was subdued and taken to hospital. He was in the company of friends. He was treated and discharged o the same day.

Further investigation revealed that there was a fight between this victim and other people prior to police attending to this particular complaint. It is further alleged that the 32-year-old victim stabbed about 7 other people before escaping with friends. The other alleged victims that were stabbed are still hospitalised.

Police have opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the 32-year-old man however investigation to establish the veracity of the incident in Havelock Street (stabbing of the 7 males) is being probed. Once confirmed, a case will be opened.

In the meantime, the 32-year-old person that was stabbed in the neck has since disappeared and cannot be traced.
