POLOKWANE — Norman Lawrence Ndukwane, 44, was arraigned in the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on charges of murdering his 32-year-old girlfriend. The court appearance took place on Tuesday, following a violent incident over the weekend.
According to South African Police Service, The arrest followed a police response to a reported assault in Mahonisi village early Sunday. Allegedly, after a dispute at a local tavern, the victim, Marima Nhlanhla, fled only to be pursued and fatally struck with a brick by Ndukwane. Despite efforts by police and emergency medical services, Nhlanhla succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
Ndukwane has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for a formal bail application on 21 August 2024 as the investigation into the murder continues.
