Post Office to address employees concerns

SA Post Office (Sapo) CEO Mark Barnes has committed to communicating with all unions and employees to resolve employee issues following a strike at the Post Office.

The strike, which started on Thursday, involved one of the unions at the Post Office.

According to Barnes, the strike has had a negligible impact on the Post Office’s operations with business as usual nationally.

Less than one percent of Post Office employees are involved in the industrial action and less than two percent of the Post Offices’ 2 500 points of presence nationally are affected.

All Post Office branches nationally are fully operational, except for four outlets in Gauteng where some have been closed as a cautionary safety measure.

“As the SA Post Office service and delivery standards continue to recover and as ongoing efforts are made to resolve its difficult financial position, it is critical that all of us hold this balance and maintain stability, especially at this time when we are finalising our plans raising funding.

“We wish to thank all employees, customers and labour partners who are committed to our course of a sustainable recovery,” Barnes said in a statement on Thursday.
