Premier Bushy Maape implores the province’s citizens to exercise their democratic right by voting
Mahikeng – Premier of the North West, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape, has implored the citizens of the province to go out in numbers and exercise their democratic right of voting on Monday, 01 November 2021.
Premier Maape, who will be casting his vote at Bopaganang Secondary School at Vryburg in the Naledi Local Municipality at 11 o’clock in the morning, maintains the right to vote is enshrined in the constitution and is recognised as a fundamental right that every South African must not take for granted.
The Premier further avers that elections are not the only measure of democracy and that challenges of poverty, unemployment and income inequalities must be dealt with decisively.
Premier insists that the face of local government in the North West must change beyond these elections and provision of basic services such as water, sanitation, electricity, roads and refuse removal will top the agenda of government.
The Provincial Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has confirmed that law enforcement officers will be deployed across the length and breadth of the province to monitor the situation and ensure the smooth running of elections.
