Provincial Commissioner hails arrest of suspect for murdering 17 year old school girl

POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended the Police in Mahwelereng outside Mokopane for swiftly arresting a 19-year-old suspect within two hours after he allegedly killed a 17-year-old school girl at ga-Madiba village on Tuesday evening, 01 September 20202, at about 19h30.
The police received a report about the incident and rushed to the scene. On arrival, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with several stab wounds.
Preliminary Police investigation was immediately conducted which led to the arrest of the suspect at his place of residence in the same village.
The deceased was identified as Ramokone Kale, a Grade 12 learner at Ebenezer High School in Zone 2 Mahwelereng. The suspect will appear in Mokerong Magistrate’s Court soon facing a charge of murder.
The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and police investigations are continuing.
The Provincial Commissioner further urged community members to assist the police to track down and apprehend the suspect who torched a house in which a woman and her three children were sleeping at Shivulani village outside Giyani.
A 38-year-old woman and her children aged 09, 13 and 20 were asleep in the house on Monday, 31 August 2020 at about 23h40, when the woman was awaken by footsteps. When she went to investigate, she was surprised by a man standing at the door step, pouring a liquid like substance over the house and then set it alight. The house immediately caught fire.
The victims managed to escape the burning house and were all rushed to hospital with burn wounds. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
