SAPS Boksburg North members recover four unlicensed firearms during a routine compliance inspection at a security company

GAUTENG – Members of SAPS Boksburg North recovered four unlicensed firearms and arrested three men yesterday, 04 March 2022 during a routine compliance inspection at a local security company.

A preliminary report suggests two designated firearm officials (DFOs) of SAPS Boksburg North visited a security company to conduct a compliance inspection.

The inspection revealed that two guards were found in possession of firearms without the required permits to possess a firearm and ammunition.

Another guard was seen allegedly trying to dispose of a firearm, but the police officials swiftly acted and established that the firearm was also not licensed. The third guard was subsequently then also arrested.

The police officials arrested three security guards and seized four firearms at the security company.

The Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 par 20(7) (a) and (b) clearly stipulates “The holder of a licence issued in terms of this Act must, at the request of a police official produce for inspection any firearm or ammunition in its possession or under its control”.
