Security forces showcase, Gqeberha

GQEBERHA – Police of SAPS Humewood, in conjunction with the Summerstrand Neighbourhood Watch, Metro Traffic, Various other security companies and Metro Police today had a special display of partnership in the Summerstrand area.

The events of the day were initiated by the Summerstrand Neighbourhood Watch which included a motorcade along the main routes in the area and ending at an open space at Pollock Beach behind Something Good.

The purpose of the activities were to assure the community in Gqeberha that strong partnerships exists between the various security forces and that the motto of “Together we are Stronger” is taken seriously in order to render services aimed at providing a safe and secure environment in the city. In many cases services are rendered by volunteers without compensation while using their own personal resources to assist in preventing crime.

The SAPS Nelson Mandela Bay District Commander, Major General Ncata in his address to community and attending participants, emphasised that the role of fighting and preventing crime is a huge undertaking, and that the SAPS appreciates all projects and events aimed at assisting the police to make our streets safe for our communities.

The event ended with a dog show conducted by the SAPS K9 Unit, to much delight of the spectators.
