MPUMALANGA – A 30-year-old suspect is expected to a appear before the Kabokweni Magistrate’s on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 for alleged murder and attempted murder of a police officer.

It is reported that on Friday, 25 March 2022 at about 11:15 two members from Nelspruit Crime Intelligence and four members of Kabokweni VISPOL reacted to an information about a group of suspects gathered at Gutswa guest house planning to commit cash-in-transit robbery at a local complex.

On arrival, members were met with a shootout where Sergeant Simba was hit and later succumbed to injuries. Six suspects were arrested on the same day and the seventh one handed himself at the police station on Tuesday following a manhunt. The suspect is to face additional charges of armed robbery, unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and conspiracy to commit a crime.
