SOUTH AFRICA, GABON SET TO EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

South Africa and Gabon are set to strengthen bilateral political and economic relations when Deputy Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Luwellyn Landers begins a two-day working visit to the country Thursday.

“The visit also provides an opportunity for the exchange of views on regional, continental and international issues of mutual concern,” the Department of International Relations and Co-operation says in a statement.

It adds that relations between South Africa and Gabon are sound and the visit is aimed at further strengthening and expanding the partnership.

Economic relations between South Africa and Gabon are steadily growing, with total two-way trade in 2015 amounting to just over 630 million Rand (about 42 million US dollars), with South African exports to Gabon totalling approximately 520 million Rand.
