Government’s Week of Activities Includes World Obesity Day and Innovation Summit

Durban: On Monday, 10 March, the Department of Health is set to commemorate World Obesity Day at the Ritson Campus Hall of Durban University of Technology in KwaZulu-Natal. The event aims to address issues related to obesity and promote healthier lifestyles among South Africans.

According to South African Government News Agency, Monday will also see Transport Minister Barbara Creecy visiting victims of a recent crash in the Free State at Pelonomi Hospital. The visit is part of the government’s efforts to support affected families and assess the needs of the victims.

On Tuesday, 11 March, the Acting Director-General of the Department of Military Veterans, Nontebeko Mafu, has extended an invitation to the media for a Military Veterans Memorial Lecture. The event, which includes an engagement with the South African Military Veterans Association (SANMVA), will take place in the Eastern Cape.

No confirmed government events are scheduled for Wednesday, 12 March.

The week will conclude with the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof Blade Nzimande, hosting the inaugural National System of Innovation Transformation Summit. Scheduled for 13 and 14 March, the summit will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the transformation of South Africa’s innovation landscape.
