Southern Cape police confiscates drugs worth R38000 during weekend operations

WESTERN CAPE – The strategic deployment of Rural Flying Squad and Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team members once again yielded positive results when drugs with an estimated street value of more than R38 000 was confiscated during weekend operations in crime ridden areas.

On Saturday, members attached to the flying squad conducted a vehicle check point along the N12 between George and Oudtshoorn when they stopped a vehicle. A search of the vehicle ensued when the police found 200 Mandrax tablets and 75gram of Tik in possession of one of the occupants. The police subsequently arrested the 18-year-old suspect on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The suspect remains in custody. He is expected to appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ court on Monday, 15 November 2021 on mentioned charge.

In the meantime, last night (2021-11-13) Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team members deployed to crime ridden areas in Thembalethu and Conville(George) arrested four suspects on charges of possession of drugs and two for possession of dangerous weapons. The police confiscated small quantities of Tik and various sharp objects during the arrests.

All arrested will appear in court once charged.
