Suspect arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm with ammunitions and stolen property in Elsies River

WESTERN CAPEAn integrated operation between members of the Flying Squad and the K-9 Dog Unit led to the arrest of a male suspect aged 43 yesterday at 10:30. According to reports the members were responding to a complaint where a white Hyundai vehicle was involved in an accident at Jakes Gerwel Road Elsies River yesterday at about 10:30 and three occupants jumped out and fled on foot with firearms.

Upon their arrival on scene, police found that the vehicle is used as a mitre taxi and there was false number plates and blue light inside the vehicle. The members conducted a search in a nearby bush with the K-9 dog assistance and they found one suspect hiding himself with automatic 9mm uzzi firearm and ammunitions in his possession.

The suspect is expected to appear at the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court once he has been charged for possession of unlicenced firearm and ammunitions and possession of stolen property.
