Suspects arrested for possession of stolen goods and dealing in drugs in Mbekweni

On Friday, 2020-09-25 at about 15:50, two dairy trucks were hijacked in Mbekweni. The suspects locked the drivers in the back of the trucks and grinded the safes open that were located inside the trucks. Intelligence was received on the whereabouts of the suspects and the stolen goods.
A joint operation between the Provincial Integrated Team and local SAPS was conducted at Mafila Street V71 and V72 Mbekweni. Eight suspects were arrested for the hijacking incident and were detained for the possession of stolen goods and dealing in dagga. They will appear in court on Monday, 2020-09-28 on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter on Thursday, 24 September 2020 at around 23:45, Kraaifontein SAPS members focusing on combatting gang violence in the area and followed up on information about a suspect who was allegedly in possession of ammunition. When approached by the members, the 25 year old male suspect ran away but was pursued and arrested and found in possession of ammunition in Dahlia Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein.
He is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Regional Court on Monday, 2020-09-28.
