Suspects to face charges of possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition

SAPS members arrested two suspects in possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms on Saturday, 02 July 2022 in isolated incidents.

Cloetesville police were busy with a tracing operation, when they visited an address in Pine Street. Upon entering the house, they spotted a male who appeared to be very nervous sitting on a table. The police members approached him and brought him under control, spotting a 9 mm pistol that was hidden behind his back on the table. The 19-year-old male was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile Delft police were busy with stop and search operations in Marco Street in Delft South when they searched a suspect and confiscated a revolver. The 42-year-old female was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Stellenbosch and Bellville Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
