Tip-off leads to the arrest of a suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm

BOTHAVILLE – Police arrested a suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm after they received a tip-off regarding a suspect involved in robberies.

On 02 August 2022 at about 16:30, police followed up on information about a suspect with a firearm who might be involved in robberies. The suspect’s house was identified in Kgotsong and members of Bothaville Crime Prevention approached the house and asked permission to search the premises. A firearm was found and a 27-year-old man from Potchefstroom was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm. The suspect will appear today on 03 August 2022 in Bothaville Magistrate Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of the FreeState, Lieutenant General BB Motswenyane applauded the members of Bothaville Crime Prevention for acting quickly to information from residents and effect an arrest and seizure of unlicensed firearm.
