Two men nailed to 15 years for rape

Two men were convicted and sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment by the Mdantsane Magistrates Court yesterday, 24 October 2016 for October 2015 rape of a 28-year-old woman.

Sithembiso Nkwenkwe Ngcobo, 29 years and Lakhile Mhlobo Wexu, 30 years, gang raped the victim during a traditional ceremony in Newlands location near East London, October 2015. The victim knew both accused, as they grew up together in the same location. A case of rape was opened at Vulindlela police station.

Sergeant Bhanakazi Jonas took over the investigation and immediately arrested the suspects.

Mdantsane Magistrate, Eugene Moss didn’t hesitate to sentence Ngcobo and Wexu to 15 years direct imprisonment each for rape.

The victim’s family welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer for a job well done.
