Two notorious criminals nabbed at Newark area

Police in Newark arrested two men, Sibekezelo Goodwill Nkwanyana (37), and Thabiso Sizwe Majola(27), for possession of housebreaking and car breaking implements on 23 May 2018. They were charged and they appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court on 24 May 2018, where they were remanded in custody until for further investigation.

Police extensive investigation revealed that the accused have been linked to a number of serious incidents. They were transferred to Verulam since there was a warrant for Majola’s arrest after he failed to appear in court for another possession of car breaking implements case and Nkwanyana is facing a Verulam case of theft of motor vehicle. Majola has been linked to other several theft of motor vehicle cases in the Ilembe area. Nkwanyana has been linked to a number of serious and violent crimes which include several carjackings in Hillcrest, KwaDukuza, Esikhaleni area, armed robbery cases in the Madadeni, Newcastle, theft of motor vehicle cases in the Richards Bay, Esikhaleni and other possession of unlicensed firearm cases.

The accused are from Esikhaleni area and police investigation is continuing to determine whether they can be affiliated with Umkhanyakude and Ilembe hijackings. It has also been established that Nkwanyana is suspected to be a hit man and police are still putting the pieces together to determine those allegations.
