Two Suspects Arrested for Drugs and Selling Liquor without license during Operation Sikhona in Mdantsane

MDANTSANE- In a collaborative effort to deal with two major crime generators in a form of drugs and liquor, Mdantsane police embarked on operation Sikhona today.

Mdantsane crime prevention unit arrested a 27-year-old suspect in possession of drugs worth an estimated street value of R300 in Ramaphosa informal settlement, Nu2, Mdantsane.

They were on patrol around Ramaphosa informal settlement, Nu2 when they arrested the suspect. The suspect was found with 6 mandrax tablets.

Police were busy with high visibility focusing on cracking down substance abuse by users and drug trade by drug dealers.

The team continued with the operation together with Mdantsane firearm, liquor and second hand goods officials. They enforced compliance on tarvens and closed shebeens around their policing precinct.

A 45-year-old woman was issued with a R2000 fine for selling liquor without a license. Police confiscated 44860 ml of liquor in the process, which will be later destroyed.

The suspect 27-year-old suspect appeared in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court today, 22 April 2022 on charges of possession of drugs. The 45-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court soon for selling liquor without a license.
