Two suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen copper cable and wires

BLOEMFONTEIN: Two suspects aged between 34 and 36 were arrested after they were found in possession of suspected stolen copper and wire cables.

On Saturday the 13 June 2021 at about 05:45, Constable Pule Mosehle and Mbongeni Zondi were busy with normal patrols in Orangesig Bloemfontein, when they received an information regarding a suspicious vehicle.

The two Constables followed information and spotted the identified white bakkie loaded with copper. Two suspects tried to flee when they spotted the police, but the operational ready members caught up with them.

Thet two were arrested and copper valued at about R350 000 was confiscated. They will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate court for possession of suspected stolen copper and wire cables soon.

“Copper theft has a negative impact in our country and in our communities, hence it’s important for people to continue working with police in bringing to a halt this rampant increase of copper and cable wire thefts” said Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
