Welkom Divers, Search and Rescue team display their expertise when a woman was rescued from the river

HENNENMAN – The team was mobilized after a woman who was trying to cross the river was swept away by strong current.

On the 16 December 2021 at about 23:30 SAPS Divers from Welkom, Bloemfontein, Sasolburg, and Welkom K9 Search and Rescue Team were mobilized after a 26-year-old Nnana Mafa was swept by strong water after heavy rains. She was trying to cross the river on her way to Delpoort farm.

Residents are sternly warned not to allow their children to swim in the water as a result of these heavy rains. Motorists must not underestimate water by crossing where water is flowing. Parents must know the whereabouts of their children and discourage them not to swim because they will drown.
