OTJIWARONGO — A 30-year-old woman died from a stab wound early Sunday morning following an alleged robbery attack in the Heroes Spark residential area of Otjiwarongo, where she was accosted by thieves demanding her cellphone.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) commander of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, the attack occurred at a three-way gravel road stop around 05:30 AM, with the victim succumbing to her injuries by 07:00 AM at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital. The woman has not yet been identified.
“The deceased was found with a deep wound under her left armpit, which a medical doctor discovered upon her arrival at the hospital,” Mbeha explained. Witnesses in the vicinity reported hearing the woman screaming for help during the attack, claiming she did not possess a cellphone or a bank card.
Shortly after her cries were heard, the woman was found on the ground, prompting community members to alert medical services. The suspects remain unidentified, and the object used in the stabbing has not been found at the scene.
Police investigations are ongoing.
