Efforts to eradicate crime in the Cape Flats proved to be fruitful as the Provincial Extortion Task Team confiscated a firearm and a consignment of drugs in Heinz Park Philippi, this morning. At approximately 01:30 today, members responded to a tip off and raided an address in the area where a gang group allegedly stores their firearms and drugs. They searched the premises and confiscated firearm with two rounds of ammunition and mandrax tablets.<\/p>\n
Two suspects aged 19 and 37 were arrested on the spot. Once charged, they will make their court appearance in Wynberg.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile members of Bishop Lavis police reacted on a tipoff and searched a residence in Bonteheuwel this morning at around 11:00. This search resulted in the discovery of a hand grenade buried in the yard and the arrest of a 55-year-old man. The circumstances surrounding the discovery are still under investigation. Once charged, the suspect is expected to make his court appearance in Bishop Lavis.<\/p>\n
